The City of Mesa is excited to offer a one-time incentive payment of $2,000 for all full-time employees and $1,000 for part-time benefited and part-time non-benefited employees who are active City Employees on January 31, 2023. About the Ideal Candidate: The ideal candidate will have the capability and desire to direct a team of survey professionals to build and maintain a benchmark system of survey control marks to be used by City of Mesa forces, consultants, and contractors to facilitate engineering public works and land development projects. The ideal candidate will be experienced with Leica GNSS, total station equipment, and Leica infinity software. The ideal candidate will also have experience using the NGS Opus and Opus project routines including field to finish surveying techniques and processing of survey data to produce a final product using AutoCAD Civil 3D 2023. The ideal candidate will have the capability to perform research and offer an opinion that works to resolve survey issues from various sources. The ideal candidate will take an active role in updating and developing the processes and procedures required to maintain quality survey services now and into the future for the City of Mesa.
A Chief Surveyor, under general direction, supervises the performance of survey parties performing all types of field surveying; and performs related work as required.
Under the general direction of the Supervising Engineer, the Chief Surveyor directs the staff engaged in technical survey projects. The Chief Surveyor resolves problems and may perform the more difficult work associated with surveys. The Chief Surveyor imports raw survey data from field survey equipment and processes data in AutoCAD to create graphical representation of points, lines, and features. The Chief Surveyor creates digital terrain models. The Chief Surveyor, in compliance with Arizona Revised Statutes (ARS) requirements, writes legal descriptions and creates associated exhibits in AutoCAD. The employee in this class is considered to be the principal land surveyor for the City of Mesa; they are required to seal surveys and record drawings and legal descriptions. The Chief Surveyor analyzes survey records and other information to determine property locations. The employee in this class may perform and/or verify construction staking. This employee is required to use appropriate safety equipment and procedures in performing assignments. This class is FLSA exempt-executive.
